Volunteer Needs for Winter/Spring 2012:

  • Lend a hand one afternoon a week to help Afterschool Excellence kids prepare for our annual Talent Show! Act development, rehearsal help, prop building, costume assembly appreciated. The Talent Show takes place on Saturday, March 24.

  • King Street Center has partnered with Champlain Elementary to help with the expansion of their Morning Tutoring Program. We are in the process of recruiting volunteers to come to Champlain Elementary once or more a week to work with a child on their academics one-on-one or in small groups on sight words; basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication; and helping with spelling and finishing homework.  The Morning Tutoring Program's aim is to help these students who are struggling in math and reading to help them to improve their skills.

  • The Afterschool Excellence program needs volunteers to help from 3 – 5 PM one or more days per week.

  • The Each One Reach One program is looking for volunteers to tutor children one-on-one, one hour per week (3-4 PM with elementary youth; 4-5 or 5-6 PM with teens). This is a school-year commitment thru June.

  • The Junior-Senior Buddy program is looking for mentors. Each mentor is matched up with one child to spend a few hours together every week. This is a one-year (minimum) commitment.

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?

King Street Center may have just the opportunity for you! We are always looking for motivated and engaged volunteers to help with a variety of tasks.  Both one-time and on-going volunteer opportunities are available.

Want to work with kids?

Work directly with children in one of our preschool, afterschool, or teen programs.  Spend time reading, helping with homework, cooking, or playing games like tennis and basketball. If you have a special talent you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you.

Looking for a group event?

We often have one-time volunteer opportunities that are perfect for businesses, church groups, and clubs.  Projects range from helping at one of our Family Night dinners to building maintenance to volunteering at one of our events.

Want to help around the office?

We often have short-term clerical needs that could be performed by a volunteer. We also encourage skilled professionals and trades people looking to lend a hand to give us a call.

Want to mentor a child?

Make a positive difference in a child’s life. There are many ways to join the mentoring movement at King Street.  See our mentoring page for details.
