ACE Program Summer Staff
Classification: Non- exempt/hourly
Hours: 10:00-5:30, Monday-Friday
Location: Burlington, VT
Salary: $19 - $21 per hour
Position Overview:
To plan and coordinate activities, academic support and career exploration for teenagers grades 9th-12th in a safe, nurturing space that supports the participants in gaining self-awareness, becoming empowered to make safe choices, and growing as individuals in the community.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Officially reports to the Academic & Career Exploration (ACE) Program Director.
Essential Roles & Duties
Be available for and attend the ACE program college trip to Boston, July 29-31.
Plan, develop, implement, supervise, and participate in daily activities and events for teenage participants in the King Street program.
Strategize with other ACE Program Staff to assess and improve upon program activities.
Provide a safe/positive environment and support kids who need additional social/emotional support.
Provide appropriate outreach to individuals and families participating in the Teen Programs.
Ensure solid communication among ACE Program Staff, and with other Agency staff, management, and the board of directors.
Participate in regular meetings with ACE Program Staff and other Agency program coordinators.
Create community partnerships with individuals and groups that will foster positive interaction with youth participating in the program, and with the Center overall. These include but are not limited to police, BHS faculty and staff, after school coordinators, alternative day program staff at the high school, and others who already play a role in the program participants lives.
Attend necessary administrative tasks to help document attendance, participation in the program’s activities, and other data as needed to facilitate the Development Director’s ability to write grants to sustain programming and introduce new programming.

Physical Requirements/Conditions of Work
Work is conducted inside and outside during all seasons. Must be able to be physically active, participate in gross motor games, and move distances to neighborhood sites.
Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds.
Interaction with children and families.
Potential for injury from physical interplay with children, and for illness passed along from children.

What You’ll Bring
Experience: 2 to 5 years experience: working with and supervising youth in general and teenagers in particular; developing group activities; group process; program management; and working with children who exhibit disruptive and occasionally inappropriate behavior.
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, human services or related fields is a plus but not required.
